Youth Projects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Youth Against SGBV<\/strong>
This is a youth-led project that seeks to empower young people as advocates against SGBV and also advocate for government allocation of resources towards the DV Victims support fund. The project was designed by the youth wing of the Association called Youth Action Movement (YAM) and is being led by young people as a mechanism to promote meaningful youth participation in program implementation in the Association while empowering young people as active advocates of change on sexual and gender-based violence.<\/p>

The project also focuses on engagements with key stakeholders to resource the fund to serve its intended purpose and to empower young people and communities with right-based information to reduce the incidence of SGBV through prevention and report of cases. Media engagements and community outreaches among others are key strategies that are being utilised at the national and community level to reach young people and community members.<\/p>

Engaging Communities to Prevent Child Marriage<\/strong>
Adolescent girls in Ghana continue to face myriads of challenges including early pregnancy, parental neglect, sexual pressure from men and boys, various forms of SGBV including. These challenges amidst widespread poverty in rural and peri-urban communities coupled with limited access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services contribute to high vulnerability and marginalization of adolescent girls. In Ghana, 1 in 5 girls marries before their 18th birthday with pregnancy and child marriage being cited as major reasons for over 8% of girls of 15-24 years who ever went to school to drop out of school. For girls living in the three Northern Regions, Volta regions, the situation is more troubling. Girls from rural areas are twice more likely to become child brides than those in urban areas.<\/p>

This project is therefore designed to contribute to national efforts to end child marriage through the promotion of adolescent girl\u2019s access to critical SRHR services to reduce their risk to SGBV and forced marriages. Through tested social innovations like Community Breaking Silence Forums, Parent-Child Communication dialogues and Child Marriage Free Community Alert Campaigns, PPAG shall engage different stakeholders and gate Keepers including CSOs, religious and traditional leaders in joint efforts to eliminate Child Marriage.<\/p>

Adolescent Girls Empowerment Project<\/strong>

The Adolescent Girls Empowerment project is therefore designed to actively engage and empower adolescent girls through youth centered interventions, including the Sista\u2019s Club initiative, to reverse the negative effects of these challenges on their lives. Whilst the focus of the project is to empower adolescent girls (10-24year) to make informed decisions about the SRHR, there is also strong interventions to create a conducive environment that supports the health and wellbeing of young people. Key activities to be undertaken include RHESY (CSE) session, SRHR service outreaches including STI treatments, parent\u2019s engagements and livelihood skills development for girls and young women. Through tested social innovations like Community Breaking Silence Forums, Parent-Child Communication dialogues, the projects intends to secure stakeholder support and partnership to tackle regressive societal norms and practices that restricts girls and women empowerment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
