Kweku Osae Brenu, the President of the International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Region (IPPF AR), is a Legal Practitioner and Notary Public. He has had an illustrious career, serving as a legal counsel and advisor to several institutions in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States of America. He has represented clients in negotiations with lead financial institutions such as the African Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation and German Investment Corporation (DEG).
Kweku has also worked as a consultant to the Government of Ghana on restructuring of the country’s Timber Marketing Board and The Divestiture Implementation Committee implementing successful divestiture. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. His associates include Phillip Brown & Company, U.K., Garlicke & Bousfield Inc., South Africa and Norton Rose LLP, U.K.
The Regional President leverages 29 years’ experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights. He has a passion for and commitment to volunteer work in reproductive health, particularly in the area of family planning advocacy. He has held various leadership positions in the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), IPPF AR and the organisation’s umbrella body IPPF. He has offered trusted expertise as a member of IPPF AR’s Law Panel, the Regional Executive Committee and Legal Advisor to the Region, as well as in his capacity as the Federation’s former Legal Counsel.
