As part of events marking the 2017 WAD celebrations, the Youth Action Movement held a YouthConnect Durbar powered by Johnson & Johnson Global Public Health (West Africa) under the patronage of PPAG and the Ghana AIDS Commission. The event was the main youth event to mark the 2017 WAD with young people. The programme was held in the Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua at the Cultural Centre Auditorium
The event drew together and reaches young people from Junior High and Senior High Schools, tertiary institutions including the Koforidua Technical University, the All Nations University and other institutions. Young people were also drawn from youth groups, societies and association in area including from Church youth groups.
The main objective of the YouthConnect WAD Durbar was to sustain the awareness and increase commitment of young people towards infection prevention, stigma reduction and promotion of the Know Your Status campaign. The young people who attended the event will be motivated to recognize their responsibility towards reaching the Zero agenda.
