Scale-Up
The Scaling Up Access to Rights-Based Integrated GBV Services in Ghana project is a 24-month project that aims to enhance the respect and upholding of human rights, including Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), for all in Ghana. Gender-based violence (GBV) remains a critical issue, with 27.7% of women and 20% of men experiencing domestic violence.
At the same time, many cases go unreported due to stigma and lack of access to support systems. Additionally, adolescent girls face increasing SRHR challenges, with 15.2% of girls aged 15-19 either having given birth or are currently pregnant. The project adopts a survivor-centered approach, prioritizing confidentiality, safety, respect, and non-discrimination in the handling of GBV cases.
It builds strategic alliances with UN agencies, development partners, CSOs, parliamentarians, and academia to foster a social movement promoting human rights in Ghana. Moreover, the project leverages modern technologies, such as the ‘Orange Support System,’ to provide essential GBV services while ensuring the safety of vulnerable and marginalized groups.
By applying a human rights-based approach, the project seeks to empower communities, strengthen legal frameworks, and enhance access to rights-based GBV and SRHR services, ultimately contributing to a more just and equitable society in Ghana.
